TitleApplication of Data Science Toward Predictive Maintenance & Troubleshooting of Stationary Storage Systems (Panel)

Panelist: Chris Turner, CTOChrisTurner_InvnetusPower_2017-400x500

Date: Thursday, September 12, 2019

Time: 8:30 – 9:15 am

Location: Crystal Ballroom

Track: Stationary Power
Description:

Energy Storage systems are essentially a large fleet of batteries and hence the most important performance indicators are battery life, uptime and safety. Improvements in these areas can help the business tremendously. Data science can help ESS business in these goals by making use of battery data. The levers of data application which can be used are:

  • Descriptive = what happened
  • Diagnostic = why it happened
  • Predictive = what will happen
  • Prescriptive = what to do about it

These can help diagnose problems faster, troubleshoot them and carry out predictive maintenance, or even estimate and prevent abnormal battery degradation. The panel will discuss their experiences and ideas around such applications and challenges faced or success met in rolling it out at their respective businesses.
